Gateway Community Outreach has been providing services in Broward County for over twenty-one years. We have helped over 760,000 individuals.
GCO provides solutions to prevent homelessness, especially to those families with children who are trying to recover from an economic downturn, a job loss, an unexpected emergency, or illness and loss in the family.
Our success utilizes a case management system, consisting of a 90-day plan to connect clients with services and referrals (e.g.) food, bus passes, baby needs, gift cards for clothing, rent/mortgage and water bill assistance.
Why Gateway Community Outreach?
The Start – Carol A. Ray (CEO and President) founded Gateway Community Outreach (GCO) in April 1995, over 24 years ago, and continues to forge ahead in addressing the needs of the hungry and homelessness in the community. GCO is a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax exempt corporation.
Our Mission – To safeguard and protect our most vulnerable community members by providing food, housing assistance, referrals and intensive case management to those in need of emergency aid.
Problems We Solve –
- We offer compassion and hope during times of personal crisis treating those in need with dignity and respect.
- We feed the hungry, prevent homelessness and help clients reach self-sufficiency.
How We Help – We assist over 30,000 clients each year with a very small paid staff but nearly 300 volunteers. Through 8 satellite locations we provide food and emergency assistance to prevent homeless through the utilization of our Federal EFSP and Foundation grants.
Our successful program utilizes a case management system, consisting of a 90-day plan to connect clients with services and referrals (e.g.) food, bus passes, baby needs, gift cards for clothing, rent/mortgage and water bill assistance.
